Palestinian artists and cultural organisations are facing violent persecution and censorship both at home and internationally.

As Palestinian artists build a powerful creative movement voicing their perspectives, history and context, they are strategically targeted and silenced.

For decades, Israel has attempted to destroy Palestinian heritage and culture. A common tactic used by colonisers, including the British Mandate, the aim is to eradicate history and identity whilst weakening unity and the possibility of self-determination.

These demands focus on ten key areas that international artists and cultural organisations can mobilise around. Inspired by movements in Palestine and worldwide, examples celebrate past achievements and provide a framework for a current call to action.

For decades, Israel has detained, imprisoned and tortured Palestinian artists.

Often held under Administrative detention, this system allows the Israeli military to hold Palestinians indefinitely on "secret information" without charge or trial. Administrative Detention can last up to six months but can be renewed indefinitely. 800,000 Palestinians have been held in this system since 1967 with the longest detention being for eight years. It is a tactic used to destroy Palestinian society, suppress those who speak out and cause widespread trauma and fear.
